About Us

Mohamed Kalif founded BAARIS Research and Studies Center, a leading institution that addresses socio-economic challenges and promotes sustainable development in Somalia and the Horn of Africa. With over 15 years of experience in program management, governance, and economic development, Mohamed's work focuses on driving impactful change through innovative and inclusive strategies.

He holds a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Royal Roads University, specializing in inclusive leadership and governance in post-conflict environments. His thesis, Restoration of Inclusive Leadership in Somalia, explored strategies for rebuilding governance structures in fragile states. Mohamed is also pursuing research on Renewing the Social Contract in Post-War Somalia, aiming to develop frameworks for long-term stability and sustainable development in conflict-affected regions.

In addition to leading BAARIS, Mohamed contributes to the business development efforts of Puntland University of Science and Technology (PUST), building partnerships and enhancing institutional capacity. He has also led research on renewable energy systems, driving sustainable solutions for rural communities. Through his leadership, Mohamed continues to guide BAARIS in bridging research and practice, addressing critical challenges, and promoting resilience and sustainable growth across the region.

Mubarak Mohamud serves as Director of Operations at BAARIS, where he is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring the effective implementation of organizational strategies, and managing resources to support BAARIS’s mission. His role involves streamlining processes, monitoring program performance, and coordinating with various departments to achieve organizational goals efficiently. Mubarak also plays a key role in developing and implementing operational policies, ensuring compliance with organizational standards, and fostering a collaborative work environment. He is tasked with identifying areas for operational improvement, building internal capacity, and supporting and delivering impactful programs and research initiatives.

He holds a degree in Business Administration from the Puntland University of Science and Technology, specializing in governance and socio-economic development. His work emphasizes building resilient institutions and promoting sustainable solutions in fragile contexts.

In his role, Mubarak is committed to driving operational excellence, supporting BAARIS’s research and development efforts, and contributing to sustainable growth and resilience across Somalia and the Horn of Africa.
